Café Indochine opened its doors in Ottawaʼs Byward Market in 1997. It began as a joint venture between two sisters, who had no formal culinary training, but possessed the innate skills for cooking traditional Vietnamese food and a passion for sharing it with others.
The name “Indochine”, the french name for the former French colony of Vietnam, is a reference to the familyʼs roots and upbringing.
The menu at Café Indochine is based on the simplicity of ingredients, complexity of tastes and the authenticity of dishes of that time and place. More than 10 years after its opening, Café Indochineʼs casual atmosphere, refined menu and secret recipes handed down over generations have continued to make it a unique and popular dining destination in Ottawa.
